Bergamot Negroni

A gin-led, stirred Negroni variation from Summit Sips, with dry vermouth and Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto.

Go to the recipe ↓

This Bergamot Negroni from Summit Sips is not an equal-parts drink. Oak-aged gin leads, Campari and dry vermouth share the middle, and a small measure of Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto brings the bergamot. A bergamot twist is one of the garnish options, not a requirement. The bottle decisions matter most: the source asks for an oak-aged gin and a dry vermouth, and the drink is stirred, then strained onto a large cube.

Method as published

  1. Stir the oak-aged gin, Campari, dry vermouth and Italicus with ice.
  2. Strain into an old fashioned glass over one large ice cube.

Garnish Bergamot twist, lemon leaf or orange wheel; the source gives these as alternatives.

  • Contains conventional alcoholic ingredients, including gin, Campari and dry vermouth.
  • Italicus is the smallest measure at 0.25 oz, so a jigger with a quarter-ounce line helps.

Dry vermouth, not sweet red

The Americano and Boulevardier recipes in this library call for sweet or red vermouth. This one uses dry vermouth, so the red bottle from those drinks is not the one to buy for it.
