Non-Alcoholic Florida
Difford's Guide's shaken citrus drink, topped with soda in a Collins glass.
Go to the recipe ↓The Florida is a non-alcoholic citrus drink built on fresh orange juice, with pink grapefruit and lemon for sharpness and a small measure of rich 2:1 sugar syrup. Only those four ingredients have fixed measures. The soda water is an unmeasured top-up that fills an ice-filled Collins glass after the shaken base is strained in.

Method as published
- Squeeze the pink grapefruit, orange and lemon juice fresh.
- Add the three juices and the rich sugar syrup to a shaker.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake.

- Top with soda water.
Garnish Orange slice and cherry on a stick (sail).
- Difford's specifies freshly squeezed pink grapefruit, orange and lemon juice.
- Rich sugar syrup is specified as 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. Ordinary 1:1 simple syrup is less concentrated, so it is not an equal-measure swap.
- Soda water is a top-up with no stated quantity; it fills the Collins glass.
- Difford's lists this as alcohol-free, which it defines as a maximum of 0.5% alc/vol. No alcoholic ingredients are listed, but the exact finished ABV has not been verified.

Making several
The four measured lines scale for a batch, and the juices and syrup can be combined ahead. Each serve is still shaken with ice and strained over fresh ice in its own Collins glass, then topped with soda. Keep the soda out of the batch, since it goes in only after straining.
